Sandbach School Big Band featuring Tom Seals
It is with great pleasure that I am able to tell you about a fantastic night of music and entertainment here at Sandbach School.
On Tuesday 23rd April the award winning Sandbach School Big Band will be joined by the phenomenal pianist and vocalist Tom Seals. His virtuoso solo-ing, excellent improvisation skills and distinctive voice have left top industry officials hailing him ‘the UK's finest boogie woogie and blues pianist/vocalist’.
Tom has worked with and supported established artists such as Jools Holland, Jamie Cullum, Gregory Porter, Dame Cleo Laine, Hugh Laurie, KT Tunstall and Matt Lucas. Hot on the heels of sold out shows across the globe including Ronnie Scott's in London and a stunning performance at the Birdland Jazz Club on Broadway New York, his star continued to soar in 2023 with the release of a his new album, EP and worldwide live dates including Dubai Opera House.

During lockdown, Tom launched his online shows, leading to Sky TV offering him a 13-week series. Each week Tom invited celebrity guests onto the show to chat about their 3 favourite songs before he and his band put their own jazzy/bluesy spin on those choices. Guests included Anton Du Beke, David Coulthard, Georgia "Toff" Toffolo, Ruby Turner, Russell Watson, Carole Baskin, Toyah, Tom Grennan, Sir Kenny Dalglish, Stephen K Amos, Diane Abbott, Tom Allen and Ricky Wilson of Kaiser Chiefs.
Throughout the concert, Tom will be accompanied by the Sandbach School Big Band. In recent years the group has worked with many of the country’s leading musicians including; Georgie Fame; Derek Watkins; Gordon Campbell (Lead trombone BBC Big Band); Matthew Ford (Singer with the John Wilson Orchestra, BBC Big Band and Syd Lawrence Orchestra); Elliot Henshaw (Drummer with Tony Christie); Colin Skinner (Lead Saxophone with the John Wilson Orchestra); Simon Willescroft (Saxophonist with Duran Duran) and Paul Newton (Trumpet with Brand New Heavies and the ‘Billy Elliot’ West End Show) Kevin Holbrough (Lead Jazz Trombone tutor Leeds Conservatoire), Johnny Heyes (Principal Guitar tutor in Popular Music at the RNCM) ad Georgina Jackson (Ronnie Scott’s resident Singer). In addition, they have been finalists at the National Festival of Music for Youth (2007 and 2011), undertaken tours of Berlin, New England USA, Istanbul, Singapore and New Zealand and given a performance to two thousand people at the 2007 Primary Proms Concert at Chester Cathedral. For the past 12 years the band performed sell out ‘Viva Las Vegas Nights’ with the fantastic A-Band and last year performed two sell out show of Queens Greatest Hits with members of QEII.
