Event Details

Much music has been inspired by the Gaelic cultures of Scotland and Ireland. First, an overture as grand as the Scottish landscape it depicts, followed by a selection of energetic dances including a Strathspey, a reel, and a fling.

Across “tha Giant’s Causeway/Clochán an Aifir” to Ireland to hear an Irish rhapsody, and ending with the first symphony written and published by a female American composer, drawing on old Gaelic melodies.

MacCunn: Land of the Mountain and the Flood
Arnold: Four Scottish Dances
Stanford: Irish Rhapsody No 1
Beach: Gaelic Symphony
